Libertango

Animation | Children’s Book

Libertango is based off of a short story I wrote long ago.

It begins with a girl living in a deserted area, and she had a friend who was half bird, half human, and could fly about to pick fresh flowers. One day, her friend stopped coming. And she went on a journey through unknown places to find him. After mountains and rivers, she was greeted by a large dance and she found company as well as a new way of living. She became part of the community, but continued to seek her past friend by setting up a pole with fresh flowers, hoping he would see and find her there. He never did, but people still saw her alone in the courtyard, open her arms and flapped them as if she was flying off to the deep blue sky.

Libertango emphasizes on the rhythmic storytelling. It is both a metaphor of life and a representation of my body of work. Created using color pencil, gouache, oil/wax pastels, Photoshop, TVPaint, After Effect, Premiere Pro, and Indesign.
